DRONE FLYING FAQ

Do you hold a licence from the CAA?

Yes I hold a current PFAW from the CAA - Operator # 570.

Are you insured?

Yes, I hold public liability insurance.

What weather can fly you?

Rain is the biggest issue for the Inspire 2 with rain getting on the lens however it can fly in pretty severe wind.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the shoot?

Usually we’d make a call 48hrs beforehand based on several forecasts. If the weather looks bad we’d aim to re-schedule. That said it can only take a small window to get air-borne and get the shot!

How long can you fly?

The Inspire can stay in the air for around 15/20 mins depending on the temperature and wind speed. I have 8 pairs of batteries.

Can you fly indoors?

Yes, usually I’d use a gimbal operator.

Can you fly close to people and buildings?

I can fly within 50m of structures and people outwith our control. If we have permission from talent/building owners we can get much closer. Please see CAA regulations here.

Can you launch from a boat?

Yes, usually we’d hand launch and catch the drone.
